The Spektrix Support Centre contains articles on how to navigate your way around and get to grips with the Opportunities Interface, how to use the various features and functions available to fundraisers, and how to put all those tools together to manage your workload as efficiently as possible.
In this article, we’re going to give an overview of all of the Opportunities content available, break down the different types of articles and how to use them, and steer you in the direction most suited to what you need.
Types of articles
Let’s start by looking at the three different types of Opportunities articles, what each one is for, and how you can get the most out of them. Here’s a quick rundown of each type:
- Introductory articles help new users get started with the Opportunities Interface.
- How-to articles deal with how to set up and use the functionality within the Opportunities Interface.
- Best practice articles look at how to combine different elements of the system in smart, efficient ways.
Let's take a look through each of these types in more detail.
The Getting Started section features articles designed to give new users a grounding in what’s possible within the Opportunities Interface, and to explain how to navigate and understand the various dashboards and pieces of functionality. They also offer guidance on what to think about when getting set up, and how to plan ahead for an efficient, easy to use fundraising setup.
These are worth reading first if you’re new to Spektrix and/or the Opportunities Interface, but are also useful if you’re looking to use any of the fundraising-related features available elsewhere in Spektrix and would like suggestions on how to get started with them, or if you’re just looking for a recap on some of the essentials.
The Opportunities Interface is brimming with functionality, and we’ve got an article to cover pretty much all of it. If you want to know everything there is to know about Activities, Campaigns, Opportunities or any other aspect of using the Opportunities Interface, one of these articles should give you what you need. These are technical articles, covering all of the information on how to set up and use each feature, but they’re still easy to read and understand.
Whether you’re keen to work things out yourself, are looking for some reference material to reinforce what you’ve learned during a Spektrix training session, or just want to remind yourself of how a particular feature works, these are the articles to go to first. They’re mostly arranged into sections based on the overall functionality; for example, all of the articles related to setting up Campaigns and Campaign structure are available in the Campaigns section.
Best practice articles
Learning how to use the system and all of the various pieces of functionality is an important step, but there’s more to using Spektrix than just knowing how each part of it works in isolation. We’ve put together a range of best practice articles which talk you through specific fundraising roles or tasks and demonstrate how Spektrix can help.
If you’re keen to understand how to get the most out of Spektrix and the Opportunities Interface in regard to your job in particular, these articles are the ones to look for. They’re designed as narrative-style resources which take you through all of the advice and ideas step by step, directing you to other useful articles where appropriate.
Where to start
There’s a lot of fundraising-related content available in the Support Centre and it’s not always easy to know where to start if you’re looking for a particular type of information. Here’s a very quick rundown of where to go depending on what you’re looking for:
- New to the Opportunities Interface? Go for the Getting Started articles first. Each of these directs you to further details for different features where appropriate.
- Looking for information about a specific feature? Head for one of the how-to articles in these sections:
- Activities: learn how to record your day-to-day fundraising tasks using Activities.
- Campaigns: plan for and set up Campaigns to record and report on all of your activity.
- Opportunities: keep track of prospects and donors using Opportunities.
- Pledges and Legacies: track promised income using Pledges and/or Legacies.
If you’re still not sure where to start, or would like to discuss any of the fundraising-related documentation available on Support Centre, feel free to get in touch with the Spektrix Support team who will be happy to help.
