A Subsite is a pre-built purchase path which you can link to your website.
Subsites are set up and managed in Spektrix Link where you can also set up Digital Passes.
Before starting, make sure you’re familiar with:
About Spektrix Subsites
You can connect a Spektrix Subsite with your existing website as your primary online purchase path, or you can choose to use a Subsite as a separate purchase path for a specific purpose (such as linking it to a secondary website for a festival or using it for your online shop).
A Subsite is a ready-made website which hosts the Spektrix purchase path so that you can quickly and easily start selling your tickets and additional items.
On a Subsite, customers can:
- Browse Events
- Buy and redeem tickets
- Make Donations and process Gift Aid declarations
- Buy and renew Memberships, Subscriptions, Merchandise, Gift Memberships and Gift Vouchers
- Subscribe to Contact Preferences through a sign up form
- Log into their account
Visually, you can brand a Subsite with your organisation’s logo, colours and fonts. You can also configure the header and footer menu items to suit your organisation’s preferences.
Subsites use a subdomain of your main website which aims to create a seamless experience for customers when moving between your website and your Subsite. Because the domains are connected, this means that customers can trust the pages that they are visiting.
You can add your Google Tag Manager details to your Subsite to allow tracking in Google Analytics and other analytics and tracking platforms of your choice.
Considerations
Before deciding if a Subsite is the right solution for you, consider the following information against your organisation’s needs.
What’s possible with a Spektrix Subsite:
- Subsites might be right for you if you have a limited budget or are working towards a tight deadline. This is because Subsites require the least web developer support compared to other integration tools.
- A Subsite can be used as a temporary or permanent solution to your website integration.
- A Subsite offers functionality that is designed to be easy to configure.
- A Subsite can be used alongside your main website integration at no additional cost to provide a parallel purchase pathway for festivals, off-site events, or other partner promotions.
What’s not possible with a Spektrix Subsite:
- Subsites might not be the best option if you want to fully customise your web pages. By working with other integration tools, a web developer can have full control over the look and feel of your integrated purchase pathway. Subsite users can only configure specific aspects including logo, fonts, colour, menu items, and URL.
- A Subsite can take the customer from your website to your subsite. Although it is possible to customise some of the look and feel, it is visible that it's separate to your website.
Subsite use cases
Below, we’ve outlined some use cases for Subsites and examples of how a Subsite can work alongside your existing website.
-
Example 1 - Linking a Subsite to your primary website
You can use a Subsite instead of an API or iframe integration. To do this, you would need to connect your primary website to your Subsite to allow customers to purchase tickets and other items.
This approach involves:
- A primary website which hosts your organisation’s information
- A Subsite which hosts tickets and other purchasable items
You can choose at what point in the journey customers move from your primary website to your Subsite. Once customers complete their purchase on your Subsite they can be directed back to your primary website.
-
Example 2 - Festival or separate identity
A Subsite can be used separately from your primary website to host another identity for your organisation. For example, if your organisation hosts a festival, off-site events or other partner promotions, which you might not want to host on your primary website.
In this approach, a Subsite can act as a secondary purchase path which exists separately from your primary integrated website. Due to the low cost and quick setup of a Subsite this can be an ideal solution.
-
Example 3 - Using a Subsite as a temporary solution
Websites that are integrated with the API or iframes require web developer support to get set up. If you want to start selling tickets with Spektrix as soon as possible, then you could use a Subsite as a temporary solution.
You might start by linking your primary website to a Subsite and then migrate over to a more bespoke iframe or API integration, or you can continue to use a Subsite as part of your web journey.
-
Example 4 - Using a Subsite alongside your integrated website
If you already have an integrated website (designed by a web developer using the API or iframes) and want to make an addition to your website then using a Subsite could be an efficient solution.
For example, if you want to start selling a new type of item on your website, such as Ticket Subscriptions or Memberships, you can experiment with offering this by using a Subsite without committing to having your web developer implement it on your integrated website.
With this solution your primary integrated website hosts the main purchase path but then customers are directed away to a Subsite to complete the purchase in specific scenarios.
