When selling Tickets, Memberships and Merchandise online, you might want to ask your customers to add a suggestion Donation at checkout.
Some organisations might use round up donations where customers can round up their Order total to the nearest whole number during checkout. Spektrix provides an alternative solution to round up Donations that can help maximise your Donation income. In Spektrix this is referred to as a Default Amount or Default Donation Amount.
In this article, we’ll guide you through setting up a Default Donation Amount against a Fund. The Default Donation Amount will be displayed to customers making a purchase online depending on the criteria you’ve specified when setting up a Fund.
Before you read this article you should be familiar with:
What is a Default Donation Amount?
A Default Donation Amount enables you to adjust your Donation ask based on the value of the customer’s Basket/Cart.
The Default Donation Amount is calculated from Tickets, Merchandise and Memberships in the Order.
TIP: Gift Vouchers and other Donations do not contribute towards this value.
How to set up a Default Donation Amount
Before you can set up a Default Donation Amount, you’ll need to set up at least one Fund. To learn about setting up funds, take a look at the Setting up Funds article.
When creating or editing a Fund, you’ll see a Default Amount tab:
You’ll see the following:
- Basket value: The minimum value in the customer’s Basket/Cart. Once the Basket/Cart reaches this minimum value, the customer will see a Donation ask of the corresponding Default Amount.
- Default Amount: The value of the Donation the customer is prompted to give when the Basket Value is reached
TIP: If you leave the Default Donation Amount blank, customers can enter their own Donation value.
To add a new Default Donation Amount, follow these steps:
- In the Default Amount tab, click the pencil icon to add the first Default Amount:
- Enter the Basket Value and Default Amount. In this example the Fund will prompt customers to donate £2.50 if there is between £0 and £49.99 in the Basket/Cart:
- Click Save:
- To add another Default Amount for a higher Basket/Cart total, click Add:
- Enter the Basket Value and Default Amount. In this example the Fund will prompt customers to donate £5.00 if there is between £50 and £99.99 in the Basket/Cart. Click Save:
- Click Ok if you’re editing an existing fund, or click Save if you’re setting up a new Fund.
-
In this example, the Fund will prompt customers to donate:
- £2.50 if there is between £0 and £49.99 in the Basket/Cart
- £5.00 if there is between £50.00 and £74.99 in the Basket/Cart
- £7.50 if there is between £75.00 and £99.99 in the Basket/Cart
