How to Load Tickets into Stimare and BOCA Printers

In this article we’ll guide you through loading tickets into a Stimare and BOCA printer. Before you can load tickets, you’ll need to adjust paper guides (Stimare and BOCA) and notch sensors (Stimare only) to accommodate your ticket stock.

Before you proceed, make sure you have followed the steps in:

TIP: Users with Microcom or Practical Automation printers will load ticket stock as part of the initial setup.

 

Getting started

Loading tickets into a printer covers the following steps:

  • Adjust paper guides (Stimare and BOCA)
  • Adjust notch sensors (Stimare only)
  • Load tickets into a printer

 

How do I adjust paper guides and notch sensors on a Stimare printer?

Before you can print tickets using a Stimare printer, you’ll need to adjust the paper guides and notch sensors on your printer.

The paper guide ensures the ticket stock is aligned correctly. The notch sensors detect the notch or band on your ticket.

Click on the tab below depending on which Stimare printer you use.

  • Stimare SML

    To adjust the paper guide and notch sensors, follow these steps:

    1. Lift up the printer lid
    2. Push the green lever to release the printhead and then lift up:


    3. Move the adjustable guide to match your ticket width. Do not set this too tightly or tickets may get jammed:


    4. Carefully adjust the notch sensor so that it is directly underneath the black notch on your tickets. This sensor can be moved with a small screwdriver or pen but take care not to break or press the sensor directly.

    5. If your tickets have a black notch on the thermal side (top) of the ticket, adjust the upper notch sensor on the print head.

    6. Once the sensors and guides are correctly positioned, close the print head and replace the top of the printer.

  • Stimare CLS and CMP

    To adjust the paper guide and notch sensors, follow these steps:

    1. With the printer facing you, lift up the lid to reveal the print head
    2. Lift up the print head by pressing the green lever:


    3. To adjust the paper guide, press and hold the guide release button. Move the adjustable guide to match the width of your tickets. Do not set this too tightly or tickets may get jammed:


    4. Carefully adjust the notch position sensor. It should be moved directly underneath the notch on your ticket stock. This sensor can be moved with a small screwdriver or pen but take care not to break or press the sensor directly.

    5. If your tickets have a black notch on the thermal side (top) of the ticket, adjust the upper sensor on the print head:

    To load tickets into your Stimare SML printer, follow these steps:

    1. First, make sure the Ticket Printer is switched on. The screen will display 'END PAPER'.
    2. Tickets should be inserted with the notch end first and thermal side up (the side you will print on).

    To load tickets into your Stimare CLS / CMP printer, follow these steps:

    1. Make sure the Ticket Printer is switched on.
    2. Tickets should be inserted with the notch end first and thermal side up (the side you will print on).

     

How do I adjust paper guides on a BOCA printer?

Before you can print tickets using a BOCA printer, you’ll need to adjust the paper guides on your printer. The paper guide ensures the ticket stock is aligned correctly.

  1. Open up the printer by removing the cover. Depending on the model of BOCA printer, you may need to remove two screws to access the paper guides.
  2. Move the paper guide to match your ticket width. Do not set this too tightly or tickets may get jammed:

To load tickets into your BOCA printer, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure the Ticket Printer is switched on. On the BOCA Lemur, the screen will display 'PAPER OUT!'. This indicates that the printer is waiting for you to insert ticket stock.
  2. Tickets should be inserted with the notch end first and thermal side up (the side you will print on).

 

How do I make sure my ticket printer can print?

Once you’ve loaded tickets into your printer, we recommend performing a test print in Windows. This to ensure the printer is correctly set up. Follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows / Start button in your taskbar. Type Printers & scanners and select it from the available options.
  2. Select your printer from the list
  3. Click Print test page:
