If your organisation uses Spektrix Payments, you’ll receive a monthly invoice for the payment processing fees incurred on the transactions you have processed in the previous month. These fees relate to the Payment rates section of your agreement with Spektrix.

In this article, we’ll explain how to understand the statement of fees issued by Adyen, which we use to raise your invoice.

Before you read this article, you should be familiar with:

TIP: This article is for Spektrix Payments users in all regions

What is this statement for?

The Adyen statement provides details about the monthly payment processing fees you owe.

These fees are calculated based on:

  • The transactions you processed in the previous month (this section is called calculated).
  • What you have already paid and collected on your daily deposits (this section is called already deducted).

For both calculated and already deducted fees, the statement provides a breakdown per payment method and fee type.

Payment methods are types of card such as Amex, Discover, Visa and Mastercard. Fee types include scheme fees, interchange fees and refunds.

Spektrix will send you an invoice every month, which is based on this statement. Payment for this invoice is taken at source by Adyen on your daily deposits, and does not require you to make a separate payment.

TIP: The Spektrix Payments invoice is separate from your Spektrix Software invoice. You can read more about the different types of invoices you might receive from Spektrix in our article Spektrix Invoices.

How to read your Adyen statement

The Adyen Statement will be in your operating currency and will typically consist of two pages. The first page is a summary and the second page is a detailed breakdown of charges.

The statement will provide a breakdown of the total amount made of up of the following components:

Statement Summary

The Total in the Statement Summary is the amount you’ll be charged for the period. The total is calculated based on your pricing agreement.

The Already deducted from settlement is the amount collected from your daily payouts (or batches) in the period. You’ll find this on page two of the statement in the Detailed Breakdown of Charges.

There are a few occasions where there might be a difference between the already deducted and the total amount calculated on your statement. This is because some fees aren't calculated until later, and therefore, are not deducted at the time your batch is settled.

Reasons for this include:

  • Processing Fees
  • Payment Method Fees
  • Management Fee and Network Tokenization Services
  • Non-Transactional Scheme Fees
  • Rounding of fees
  • Transactions that were Received in Month 1 and Settled in Month 2

Any variance between the Total charge and the Already deducted from settlement amount will show in the Amount due line in the first page. This amount will never require actual payment but will instead be collected in the following month.

Detailed Breakdown of Charges

The second page of the statement provides a breakdown of how those fees were calculated based on your pricing.

In the Specification of final calculation including discounts section you’ll see:

  • Turnover: The amounts processed
  • Rate: This should match your Application Services Agreement
  • Calculated: The final charge

Underneath, you’ll see a Refund Fees section, where you’ll see a breakdown of refunded fees in the same format as above.

If there are any variances between the ‘total’ charge and the ‘already deducted from settlement’ amount, you’ll see a breakdown of these amounts in the Specification of amounts already deducted from settlement section.

Payouts appear in two batches:

  • Mastercard/Visa: Displayed as “Adyen Payout” on your bank statement.
  • American Express/Discover: If you accept these cards, these will display as “Adyen Nv Payout
