The Saveo CT58 is an all-in-one ticket scanner designed for scanning QR codes and barcodes. As the CT58 is an all-in-one device, no further hardware is needed. The Saveo CT58 captures the QR code/barcode information and sends this to the Spektrix Scanning Interface on the scanner’s web browser.
In this article we’ll walk you through the steps of setting up the scanner to scan tickets. We’ll also guide you through configuring additional scanner settings.
Before you read this article, make sure you’re familiar with:
Charging the Saveo CT58 before use
Before you begin setup, we recommend charging the scanner. Follow these steps:

Connect the USB-C end of the charging cable to the CT58

Plug the USB-A end of the cable to your computer’s USB port or a USB charger
TIP: Using a USB charger will reduce charging time compared to a computer’s USB port.

Turn on the scanner by pressing the power button on the top right of the scanner:
Connecting the Saveo CT58 to the internet
To log into the Scanning Interface and scan tickets, you’ll need to connect the scanner to the internet. You can use the following connection methods:
- Wi-Fi
- 5G/4G mobile/cellular connection
Wi-Fi connection
To connect to a Wi-Fi network, follow these steps:

Swipe up from the bottom of your home screen and tap Settings:

Tap Network and Internet:

Tap Wi-Fi. You can turn on Wi-Fi from this screen by tapping the toggle switch:

If Wi-Fi is turned off, tap the toggle switch next to Use Wi-Fi to turn it on:

Select your Wi-Fi network from the list that appears and follow any on screen prompts.
TIP: If your Wi-Fi network is not listed, it may be hidden. Contact your IT team for further help
5G/4G connection
To connect using a 5G/4G connection, insert a nano SIM card into the scanner. For full instructions, consult your scanner’s user guide.
TIP: When using a 5G/4G connection, we recommend also connecting to a Wi-Fi network as a backup. If you lose 5G or 4G connectivity but you’re within range of your Wi-Fi network, the scanner will automatically switch to Wi-Fi and vice versa.
Scanning settings
Your scanner should arrive with scanning settings pre-configured. We recommend checking these settings to ensure you can scan tickets. Follow these steps:

Swipe up from the home screen and tap Settings:

Scroll down to Enterprise featured setting and tap Scanner Settings:

In Scanner Settings, tap Output mode:
The settings to check are:
- Output Mode
- Keyboard type
- Action Key Character
Check the settings by following the steps in each of the tabs below.

Output Mode
Output Mode should be set to Keystroke output:
If not set to Keystroke output, tap Output Mode and select Keystroke output: You’ll be taken back to the Output Mode menu. Your settings will be saved.Click on the next tab for instructions on checking the Keyboard Type.

Keyboard Type
The Keyboard type should be set to Always Physical keyboard:
If not set to Always Physical Keyboard, tap Keyboard type and select Always Physical Keyboard: You’ll be taken back to the Output Mode menu. Your settings will be saved.Click on the next tab for instructions on checking the Action Key Character.

Action Key Character
The Action key character should be set to Carriage return:
If not set to Carriage Return, tap Action key character and select Carriage return: You’ll be taken back to the Output Mode menu. Your settings will be saved.
Setting a Screen Lock/Device Security
We recommend setting up a Screen Lock to secure your scanner from unauthorised access.

Optional Scanner Configuration
Once you’ve set up your scanner, you can customise optional settings, such as:
- Adding a Google account
- Sound settings
- Screen timeout
- Battery saver
Adding a Google Account
You may wish to add a Google Account to your scanner. Adding a Google account enables automatic app updates, device backup and much more.
WARNING: Use (or set up) a
Google Account
for everyone in your organisation to share. You can use an existing work email
address (non-Google) if you prefer.
Avoid using a personal Google account or personal email address.

Sound settings
Your Saveo CT58 scanner will produce one sound when scanning a barcode/QR code and then a separate sound to indicate the result (Success/Warning/Error). You’ll also see a message in the Scanning Interface.
You can adjust the volume when you scan a ticket. Click the box below for the steps to change the scanner volume.

To adjust the volume when scanning tickets, follow these steps:

Swipe up from the bottom of your home screen and tap Settings:

Scroll down and tap Sound:

You’ll see a Sound menu with several sliders:
- Media volume: This is the volume for the result of the scan. Move this slider as desired.
- Call volume: Not used.
- Ring and notification volume: This is the volume when a ticket is scanned. Move this slider as desired.
- Alarm volume: Not used.
TIP: When scanning a ticket, you’ll hear a sound indicating the result of a scan (Success/Warning/Error). It isn’t possible to change or mute this sound.
Return to the home screen by tapping the home icon. Any changes you’ve made will be saved automatically:

Screen Timeout
When the CT58 is in standby, the display will timeout and turn off after one minute. Press the power button on the top right of the device to wake it up:
TIP: If you’ve set up a Security PIN, Password or Lock to protect the device, you’ll need to enter this to gain access to the scanner. Make sure your Front of House team members all know the security information to unlock scanners.

Swipe up from the bottom of your home screen and tap Settings:

Scroll down and tap Display:

Tap Screen timeout:

Select your preferred Screen timeout period.

Return to the home screen by tapping the home icon. Any changes you’ve made will be saved automatically:

Battery Saver
Android has a feature called Battery Saver. This reduces the device performance in order to extend the battery life until you next charge it.
When using Battery Saver:
- Dark Mode is activated
- Background activity, visual effects, Hey Google (used to activate Google Assistant) are turned off, or restricted

You’ll now see an overview of the Battery. Tap Battery Saver:

Tap to toggle on Use Battery Saver. Dark mode will be activated:
