In this article we’ll guide you through the steps needed to let Users with restricted Internet access take phone payments in the Sales Interface. We’ll also give you information on authorising Internet access by DNS (preferred) and IP address (not recommended).

Working with restricted Internet access

Spektrix is a cloud based solution and requires Internet access to process transactions.

If your organisation restricts Internet access or only allows access to certain IP addresses, this could affect your ability to process transactions. This means that you may not be able to take payments for telephone sales using the Phone Sales Channel.

To access Spektrix from a network that restricts Internet access, you’ll need to authorise either using DNS or IP address.

If you restrict Internet access by only authorising access to a list of specific IP addresses, we’d recommend authorising using DNS instead.

The IP addresses for payments may change in the future. Authorising by DNS means you only need to add one address to your exceptions.

How to authorise using DNS

Ask your IT team to authorise using .spektrix.com. This ensures that the payment platform addresses that fall within .spektrix.com will be accessible and function correctly when taking payments.

  • The current payment platform address is:

    • pay.spektrix.com

REMINDER: Authorising .spektrix.com ensures that all payment platforms will operate correctly

If you see a browser error or spinning circle instead of the card details form when taking a payment, this means .spektrix.com hasn’t been added to your exceptions. Speak to your IT team to resolve this.

How to authorise using IP addresses

If you have to authorise using IP addresses, you’ll need to ask your IT team to add IP address exceptions.

    • 20.82.82.174

REMINDER: Our IP addresses are not fixed, and can change dynamically. We won’t be able to notify you of any changes to our IP addresses. Authorising by IP address may result in the unavailability of parts of your Spektrix system if our IP addresses change.

While you can authorise using IP addresses, we always recommend authorising by DNS.

If you can access Spektrix but see a browser error or spinning circle instead of the card details form when taking a payment, this could mean that the IP addresses above haven’t been added to your exceptions. Speak to your IT team to resolve this.

What to do if IP addresses change?

Your Spektrix system uses two sets of IP addresses, one for the system itself and one for payments

Unlike the IP addresses for your Spektrix system, the IP address for payments may change in the future.

If you need to restrict by IP address and these change again in the future, you or your IT team can find the latest IP addresses to add to the authorised list by clicking on the box below.

  • To find out the IP address for payments in Spektrix, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard, or click the start menu
    2. Type Command
    3. In the Command Prompt that appears, type nslookup pay.spektrix.com and press Enter:

    4. You’ll see the IP Address displayed:

    5. Add the IP address you see on your screen as an exception
