To stop a certain delivery method from being available online, you can suppress it. You may want to do this, for example, to limit online ticket purchases to Print at Home/e-ticket delivery.
You can only suppress delivery methods for online sales. All delivery options are available to Spektrix users in the Sales Interface.
Before reading this article, make sure you’re familiar with:
Suppressing COBO/Will Call (Default Delivery Method)
When setting up Ticket Types, you can set a default delivery method as COBO/Will Call or Post. COBO/Will Call is usually the default for all Ticket Types. The default deliver method is indicated by the Always available radio button:
TIP: You can follow these steps to suppress the default delivery method, whether it is COBO/Will Call or Post.
The default delivery method is used by all Web Ticket Types. When setting up new Instances, the default delivery method will always be allowed.
If you have other delivery methods available, you can suppress the default delivery method. This will stop customers from choosing this delivery method if there are other methods available.
WARNING: Suppressing your default delivery method is a global change that will affect all live Instances selling online. The default delivery method will only be available if there are no other delivery methods available for online orders. For example, if Post and Print at Home aren’t set for an Instance, then COBO/Will Call will be available.
To suppress COBO/Will Call, go to the Admin Interface and follow these steps:
TIP: To access the Admin Interface, you’ll need the General Administrator Role. If you don’t have this Role, ask the Settings Administrator in your organization to add this Role to your User Account.
-
Under Pricing > Ticket Types > Web Types > Web Availability, click Edit to make changes:
-
Check the Suppress if possible box under COBO / Will Call (the first column):
- Click Save to save the changes. Click Cancel to discard any changes.
REMINDER: Do not change the Always available option. A default Ticket delivery method is always required but will not appear online if other methods are available.
When an online customer is prompted to choose a Ticket Delivery, they’ll have the option to select:
- Print my tickets at home (Print)
- Receive my tickets by post (Post)
- Collect my tickets at the box office - Not available for your choice of tickets will appear and can’t be selected
TIP: You won’t be able to remove or hide the option Collect my tickets at the box office - Not available for your choice of tickets when one or more Ticket delivery methods are present.
Suppressing Other Delivery Methods
To suppress other delivery methods for all online orders, follow the same steps as required for suppressing the default delivery method.
WARNING: If you suppress all available Delivery Methods, then the default Delivery Method (even if suppressed) will be the only one available.
In the event that there is only one available delivery method then an online customer will not be prompted to choose a method. Instead they will see this text under Ticket Delivery in the Order Summary:
Print my tickets at home - (no charge) (other delivery methods are unavailable for your choice of tickets)
Suppressing Delivery Methods for some Instances
If you’d like to suppress non-default delivery methods for some Instances but not others, you can remove these options on the Instance level without suppressing the delivery method globally for all online orders.
When setting up or editing an Instance, select if the delivery method is allowed for each Instance.
REMINDER: Under Pricing > Ticket Types > Web Availability, keep Suppress if possible checked under the COBO/Will Call column and unchecked under the other delivery method columns.
To remove delivery methods from an Instance, follow these steps:
- Go to the Event Instance.
-
Uncheck the box for either Post Allowed or Print at Home Allowed:
WARNING: If you uncheck both Post and Print at Home, COBO/Will Call, even if suppressed, will be the only option.
If only one method (not counting COBO/Will Call) is made available, an online customer won’t be prompted to choose a Ticket Delivery.
For example, if Print at Home is the only option available, they will see this text under Ticket Delivery in the Order Summary:
Print my tickets at home - (no charge) (other delivery methods are unavailable for your choice of tickets)
Limiting the Delivery Method to Print at Home Only
If you decide to limit delivery methods for online customers to only email delivery (Print at Home Tickets/e-tickets and Digital Passes), in addition to following the steps above to suppress and/or remove delivery methods, you must also set the following:
Under Pricing > Ticket Types:
- Print at Home tickets must be set with no time limit to their web availability
- The Print box is checked for all applicable Ticket Types:
In each Event Instance:
- Specify a Print at Home Ticket Design and PDF template to every Instance sold online
- Check Print at Home Allowed
- If sending Digital Passes, add a Digital Pass Template ID
For more information, read Print at Home Tickets/E-tickets.
Delaying e-ticket delivery
Sometimes you may not want print at home / e-tickets to be available to customers immediately. Delaying e-ticket delivery can mitigate the risk of ticket resale and give you more control over when customers receive their tickets.
If you are choosing to delay e-ticket delivery, you can suppress the Print at Home email at the Instance level.
- For new Instances: During the Instance Details set up, you can choose to suppress Print at Home / e-ticket delivery emails by unchecking the Send print at home email box:
- For existing Instances: In the Basic Details tab of the Instance, you can choose to suppress print at home / e-ticket delivery by unchecking the Send Print at Home email box:
