Managed Components are a pre-built, pre-defined mobile-optimised integration tool provided and maintained by Spektrix. Spektrix provides both the visual design, interactive elements, layout and functionality in a way that is easy to implement.
This article explains how you can use Managed Components to add extra functionality to your online customer journeys and how they function alongside existing integration tools.
TIP: Managed Components are updated on an ongoing basis. This means new components will become available, and existing components will be developed to include more functionality.
How do Managed Components work?
Managed Components are a pre-built integration tool provided by Spektrix. They can be used to add extra functionality to your existing website integration with minimal work required from a web developer.
Depending on your website’s requirements, Managed Components can be implemented in two different ways:
- Mounted on existing iframes
You can configure a Managed Component to automatically mount on top of your existing embedded Spektrix iframes. This approach requires minimal support from a web developer.
When active, the mounted component intercepts the legacy iframe page and replaces it with the new, enhanced interface. If part of the user journey is not eligible for the new interface experience, the system automatically falls back to the standard iframe, ensuring a seamless customer journey.
Using Managed Components mounted on existing iframes requires a website using the relevant Spektrix iframe (for example, the Express Checkout iframe for checkout, or the Choose Seats iframe for seat selection). All Subsites use these iframes.
or
- Mounted directly on your website
With the support of a web developer, Managed Components can be added directly to your website without using iframes. This provides a modern, fast and highly customisable integration path.
TIP: Documentation your web developer can use to mount Managed Components onto your website will be available soon on the Integrate Portal.
Styling
Managed Components that are mounted to iframes will inherit your existing CSS styling where possible. This means in the majority of cases, the Managed Component will match your website branding automatically without requiring web developer involvement.
If you need to make adjustments to the styling, your web developer can update the component's elements using standard CSS.
Analytics and Tracking
Managed Components will work with your existing Google Analytics and Tag Manager integrations.
How do Managed Components intercept iframes?
Because Managed Components are being released with phased functionality, not every customer journey will be eligible for an enhanced experience.
REMINDER: As Managed Components evolve, more scenarios will be handled by the new experience and fewer customer journeys will fall back to legacy iframes. Check individual Managed Component articles for current eligibility details.
Eligibility is determined by factors specific to each Managed Component. If the user’s session requires functionality not yet supported by the Managed Component, the system bypasses the Managed Component and falls back to the legacy iframe.
When Managed Components are mounted on existing iframes and the user’s session is eligible, Managed Components intercept the existing content of specific iframes within the purchase path.
You can configure Managed Components to intercept iframes differently for each domain that you have set up in the Website Admin Interface.
