TIP: For users in the US looking to learn more about ticket fee legislation, read our blog on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) junk fees rule.
For users in the UK and Ireland, take a look at our blog on Ticket Fee legislation from the Competition and Markets Authority.

What are Transaction Commissions?

Transactions in Spektrix are records of when a Sale, Return or Reservation is made. They’re logged as part of an Order and can include multiple payments.

A Transaction Commission is a fee that is applied once per Basket / Cart regardless of how many tickets or items are within it. A Transaction Commission is also only applied once regardless of how many payments are made within the Order.

Transaction Commissions are an outside fee which is added on top of total for the items in the Basket / Cart, not embedded within individual item prices.

Transaction Commissions are applied globally across all Events and You can set a different Transaction Commission value for each Sales Channel (Phone, Web and Counter) and also waive the Transaction Commission for certain customers, or against particular items. For example, comp tickets.

How to edit your Transaction Commission

You can edit Transaction Commissions in the Admin Interface.

TIP: To access the Admin Interface, you’ll need the General Administrator Role. If you don’t have this Role, ask the Settings Administrator in your organisation to add this Role to your User Account.

Waive Criteria for Transaction Commissions

Waive Criteria can be used to stop certain customers from being charged Transaction Commissions. For example, you may want to waive Transaction Commissions for Members.

To set a rule, click the Waive Criteria link:

Drag and drop criteria into the Drop criteria here section:

You can combine multiple metrics using the AND, OR and NOT rules to make your Waive Criteria more specific.

  • Charge if any items in the basket: Always charges if the item is in the Basket/Cart regardless of price.

Once you have applied the settings, click Save.

TIP: The Transaction Commission will only apply to an Order if there is an eligible item in the Basket/Cart.

Default behaviour when returning Commission

You can configure the default behaviour when items within an Order are returned.

There are three options for the default behaviour:

You can configure the default behaviour for this scenario in the Settings Interface.

TIP: To access the Settings Interface, you’ll need the Settings Administrator Role. If you don’t have this Role, ask the Settings Administrator in your organisation to add this Role to your User Account.

  1. In the Settings Interface, go to Configuration > System Setup:
