You can set up Campaign Attributes to store extra information against Campaigns, Sub-Campaigns and Sub-sub-Campaigns in Spektrix. Campaign Attributes are useful for reporting purposes, for example, to group Campaigns over multiple financial years by income stream.

In this article, we’ll cover how to create a Campaign Attribute and provide some example use cases.

Before getting started with Campaign Attributes, take a look at:

Why use campaign Attributes?

You can use Campaign Attributes to add extra information to individual Campaigns and organise them into groups.

Attributes can then be:

Example use case

You can use a Campaign Attribute to group Campaigns together for Reporting purposes.

For example, if you use your Campaigns to track financial years, you could use a Campaign Attribute to group a specific type of Campaign, such as “individual giving”, over multiple years.

You can also use Campaign Attributes to add extra detail to Campaigns. For example, you could use a text field Campaign Attribute to add details such as a fundraising budget or Membership sales target. You could also use a text field Attribute to assign each Campaign to a member of your team and then use this to filter Reports for individual team members.

How to create a Campaign Attribute

To create a new Campaign Attribute, navigate to the Settings Interface > Attributes > Campaign.

TIP: You'll need the Settings Administrator user role to create and edit Attributes. If you don’t have this permission, ask the administrator in your organisation.

Click the New Attribute Definition button.

Attribute Definition

Next, enter the required information to define the parameters of your Attribute.

  • This Attribute is protected: this option is greyed out as you cannot protect Campaign Attributes.

  • Length: choose the maximum number of characters that can be entered, or set the exact number of characters which have to be entered to proceed. A text field can contain a maximum of 255 characters.

  • Allow users to enter free text for this Attribute: this option is only available for Dropdown List Attributes.

  • Unique Value: check this box if you require a unique Value to be entered every time.

Once you have input all the information, click Create Attribute Definition.

Attribute Values

If you choose a Dropdown List, you will then need to add the Values.

Type each of your Values for this Attribute on a separate line. Each line appears as a value in this Attribute’s Dropdown List:
