In Spektrix, you can Lock specific Seats to hold them back from general sale. You can also make them available for certain Customers to purchase.

In this article we’ll guide you through how to sell a Locked Seat, how to clear Locks and how to report on them. You’ll also find links to other helpful resources.

Before you proceed you should be familiar with the following articles:

To learn more about setting up Locks in Spektrix, read our article on Setting Up and Editing Lock Types.

You can sell Locked Seats on Reserved and Unreserved Seating Plans. To sell a Locked Seat, you can either retain the Lock, or clear the Lock before the sale.

Reserved Seating Plans

Once you’ve selected an Event and Instance, you’ll see the Seating Plan.

On a Reserved Seating Plan, you’ll see each Lock Type is represented by an icon. This could be a letter, number or a symbol:

Retaining the Lock

TIP: When you sell a Locked Seat, the Lock Type will remain against the Seat. This enables you to report on Seats sold by Lock Type.

If a Locked Seat is returned or a transaction is cancelled while performing a Sale, the seat will retain its Lock Type and it won’t appear for general sale.

You can sell a Locked Seat in the same way as any other Seat. You may be prompted to enter a Password when adding a Locked Seat to the Basket/Cart:

If you see this prompt, enter the Password, or ask the administrator in your organisation.

Clearing the Lock

You can sell a seat by clearing the Lock. Any Seats sold using this method won’t retain their Lock Type. This includes Seats that are returned, or if a transaction is cancelled before the Order is confirmed. To reinstate the Lock, you’ll need to increase the Lock Type quantity against the relevant Lock Type.

To clear Locks and sell as a standard Seat, follow these steps:

  1. In the Seating Plan, click Actions > Clear Locks
  2. Choose the Locks you want to clear by selecting the Seat(s). A selected Seat will display as a black dot:

  3. At the bottom of the Seating Plan, click Clear locks or Clear locks and add to Basket:

Unreserved Seating Plans

To check how many seats are Locked on an Unreserved Seating Plan, look at the Summary section at the bottom of the Seating Plan:
