Ordering a Ticket Scanner (US and Canada)

This article is for Spektrix users in the US and Canada who use Ticket Scanners for access control. 

This article explains how to order Ticket Scanners for your organization. You will also find information to help you decide which scanners to choose.

To use Ticket Scanners, you’ll need to use barcodes or QR codes on your ticket designs. You’ll find more information on using barcodes or QR codes in The Ticket Design tool - How To Create A New Ticket Design.

Choosing a Ticket Scanner

Spektrix works with three brands of Ticket Scanner in the US and Canada: Saveo, Zebra, and Janam.

You should consider the following when deciding upon which model is best for your organization:

  • Whether you need a combined Ticket Scanner/Android device (i.e a scanner with built in connectivity)
  • Whether you want a Ticket Scanner to use with your own Android or Apple device
  • Whether you want to use the scanner indoors with Wi-Fi connectivity or outdoors with a 4G connection

Saveo Ticket Scanners

Spektrix works with both the Saveo Bolt and Saveo Pocket Scan 2. You can see the Saveo Bolt and Saveo Pocket Scan 2 on the Saveo SCAN website.

  • The Saveo Bolt is the larger of the two models, measuring 14.50cm in length, 8.50cm in width, and 10.50cm in height (5.71 in. L x 3.35 in. W x 4.13 in. H).


  • The Saveo Pocket Scan 2, is the smaller option, measuring 8.07cm in length, 5.03cm in width, and 2.0cm in depth (3.18 in. L x 1.98 in. W x 0.79 in. D).


Saveo Bolt and Saveo Pocket Scan 2 scanners require additional mobile/cell phones to operate. These are not included in the purchase of the hardware. Phones connect to the scanners via USB or Bluetooth (Saveo Bolt) or Bluetooth only (Saveo Pocket Scan2).

IMPORTANT: If you are using an Apple device with the Saveo BOLT, you may need to order a cable kit add-on. This must be purchased as part of the initial ordering process.

The cable kit add-on (SCF003-KIT) includes:

1 x Premium USB Type-C cable (SCUSBC)
1 x Flex-Protect Lightning device cable (SCF003)

Zebra Ticket Scanners

Spektrix works with both Zebra TC21 and TC26 Ticket Scanners. You can view the Zebra TC21 and TC26 on Zebra’s website.

  • The Zebra TC21 has Wi-Fi connectivity, and measures 15.80cm in length, 7.90cm in width, and 1.30cm in depth (6.22 in. L x 3.11 in. W x 0.54 in. D). The Zebra TC21 is best used indoors with a stable Wi-Fi connection.
  • The Zebra TC26, has Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity, and measures 15.80cm in length, 7.90cm in width, and 1.30cm in depth (6.22 in. L x 3.11 in. W x 0.54 in. D). The Zebra TC26’s 4G connection means it can be used for outdoor events, or indoors with Wi-Fi.


Zebra TC21 and TC26 scanners have built-in connectivity so do not require additional mobile/cell phones to operate.


Janam Ticket Scanners

Spektrix works with Janam XT30 Ticket Scanners. You can view the Janam XT30 on the SSE website.

  • The Janam XT30 has Wi-Fi connectivity, and measures 15.20cm in length, 7.60cm in width, and 1.80cm in depth (6.1” L x 3.2” W x .8” D).

To speed up the ordering process for scanners, SSE Technologies will ask for the following wireless network and Spektrix test account information for your organization:

Wireless Information

The information you’ll need to provide will differ depending on whether you’re using Static IP addresses or DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

You can find out if you’re using Static IP or DHCP by following these steps:

  1. Click the Windows/Start button in your taskbar. Type CMD.
  2. You’ll see a Command Prompt window. Type ipconfig/all and press Enter.
  3. In the data which appears, look for DHCP Enabled. If this is set to Yes, you’re using DHCP (Dynamic IP Addresses). If it’s set to No, you’re using a Static IP address:



Once you’ve established whether you’re using a Static IP address or DHCP, click on the box below for the information you’ll send to SSE Technologies.

  • SSE Technologies will ask for the following information:

    1. Wi-Fi Name (SSID)
    2. Encryption type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc)
    3. Wi-Fi Passphrase (password)

Wi-Fi name and passphrase

When you connect to a Wi-Fi network, you’ll need the name of the Wi-Fi network (often referred to as SSID) and passphrase (password).

Click the box below for information on how to find your Wi-Fi network name and passphrase.

  • To find your Wi-Fi name and passphrase, follow these steps:

    1. Make sure you're connected to your Wi-Fi network.
    2. In the taskbar on your PC, right-click the Wi-Fi icon, and then select Open Network and Internet Settings.
    3. Under Advanced Network Settings, select Network and Sharing Center.
    4. Next to Connections, select your Wi-Fi network name.
    5. Select Wireless Properties.
    6. Select the Security tab.
    7. Select Show Characters. If you see a popup asking Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? Click Yes to continue.
    8. Your passphrase will now be displayed in the Network Security Key field. Make a note of it, but do not change it.

Wi-Fi encryption

Wi-Fi encryption is a crucial aspect of securing your wireless network. It is a method of protecting your Wi-Fi network from unauthorized access by encrypting the data transmitted over the network.

There are several types of encryption available. Click the box below for help finding your encryption type.

  • To find the encryption type for your Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

    1. Find the Wi-Fi icon in your taskbar and click on it
    2. Underneath your Wi-Fi connection, click Properties
    3. Scroll down and under Properties, look for the Wi-Fi details
    4. Look for your Wi-Fi Security Type - this is your encryption type


Spektrix Information

Once you’ve gathered the information for your wireless network, the final step is to provide the following information to link the scanner to Spektrix:

  • URL for the Scanning Interface (check how to find the URL in The Scanning Interface)
  • A test user account for your Spektrix system (please do not use your own or a colleagues account). Create an account for testing purposes only.
  • Sample show tickets in PDF or jpeg format.
  • Date devices are needed.

SSE Technologies will use this information to complete the initial setup of your scanners. Once you’ve switched the scanner on, you’ll be able to scan out of the box, by entering your Spektrix username and password. The scanners are locked down, so the only settings you'll be able to change are the Wi-Fi details.

TIP: By ordering through SSE Technologies, you will also have access to their support service. If you have trouble scanning, SSE Technologies will be your first point of contact.
