In this article, we’ll guide you through how to configure Custom Website Messages which appear on iframes.

iframes are just one of the integration tools you can use to integrate your website with Spektrix. You may use iframes for a part of, or all of, your online journey.

Using Custom Website Messages is one way you can configure iframes.

Before getting started, we recommend you read the following articles:

TIP: You can use the iframes Content Tool to identify which parts of your iframes can be edited and which cannot be changed.

What are Custom Website Messages?

Custom Website Messages let you change or add certain lines of text which appear on your iframes.

For example, you may wish to add extra information to the page which displays your Memberships, or change the title of your Merchandise page. By changing the corresponding Custom Website Message, you can change this message to add information that is specific to your organisation.

Custom Website Messages use Wikitext and this can be used to apply styling to the custom messages you add. To learn more about how Wikitext works, read our article about Website Content.

The content you add in Custom Website Messages will appear on the corresponding iframe across all websites that are linked to your system. This means that if your organisation has multiple websites, you may want to ensure that the content is relevant and helpful for all of your website audiences.

REMINDER: The changes you can make using Custom Website Messages are limited to the options available. You can configure iframes in other ways by using Website Content, Using Attributes to filter iframes or by asking your Website Developer to remove or change certain elements using CSS Styling for iframes. Otherwise, it may not be possible to edit that part of the iframe.

How to edit Custom Website Messages in the Settings Interface

To add Custom Website Messages to different iframes, you’ll need to navigate to the Settings Interface.

REMINDER: To access the Settings Interface, you’ll need the Settings Administrator user role.

If you are viewing the old Interface, you’ll need to switch to the New Interface by going to the Control Panel and selecting Go to New Interface:

From the menu across the top, choose Configuration > System Set up:

Then choose Custom Website Messages from the menu on the left:

TIP: There are also Custom Website Messages under the sections Donations on Web, Memberships on Web and Offers on Website.

  • To add a Custom Website Message, type the message you want to add into the box related to the message you want to update. You can then add formatting and images using Wikitext.

REMINDER: If you are using any special characters, such as *, /, \, _, -, $, @, #, %, you will need to put a backslash \ in front of them. If you do not do this, your Custom Website Message will not save.

  • You can preview the Custom Website Message by clicking the Preview link below the text box. The preview will show how your text will display without any CSS styling applied. To preview the iframe with the CSS Styling applied, you can follow the guidance on how to preview iframes in the What are iframes? article.
  • To save your changes, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Save Configuration button:

Custom Website Messages

In this section, we’ll cover each of the Custom Website Messages you can add and where the change will be reflected.

In this article we’ve listed them in the order they appear in the Settings Interface, however, we’ve also included a list below which you can use to jump to the relevant messages by iframe.

TIP: If you don’t know which Custom Website Message you need to update, you can search this page using Ctrl + F (or Command/⌘ + F on a Mac) to search for a keyword, or, jump to the relevant Custom Message from each of the iframes listed below.

Terms and Conditions Check Box

In both Classic and Express Checkout, you can force the Customer to accept the Terms and Conditions of the sale in the Checkout iframe (Checkout.aspx).

To do this, check the box named Display Terms and Conditions and make customers agree with them by ticking a box before they can proceed.

Then, add the text you want to add into the box marked Enter your Terms and Conditions below. To add any formatting, you'll need to use Wikitext:

If you need to supply your Web Developer with guidance, take a look at the details about the Checkout iframe on our Integration Portal.

In order to add a link to your Terms and Conditions that opens in a new page, you'll want to use the following Wikitext:

By checking this box, you agree to our #(newWindow=AddressOfYourT&CsPage)terms and conditions#

Replace the AddressOfYourT&CsPage with the URL of your Terms and Conditions web page. Make sure you include https://www. at the start of the website address.

TIP: You’ll need to check the box and populate the Terms and Conditions text box for this custom message to appear on the Checkout iframe in both classic and express checkout.

Priority Booking

When a Customer reaches the Event Details (EventDetails.aspx) or Choose Seats iframe (ChooseSeats.aspx) of an Instance with Priority Booking, you can choose to display a custom message to those who don’t have access to Priority Booking.

For example, you may wish to add a message that upsells access to the Priority Booking period through a Membership.

The custom message for Priority Booking will appear in addition to the default message that says: Online booking for this event opens at [time] on [date]. For priority booking please log in to your account or enter a code below.

Customers who do have access to the Priority Booking period will see the Choose Seats iframe as normal.

Enter your custom message into the box marked Custom message about priority booking. To add any formatting, you'll need to use Wikitext:

Seating Plans

The custom message for Seating Plans will appear on the Choose Seats iframe (ChooseSeats.aspx) above your Seating Plan.

By default, the message above the Seating Plan reads: Please select your seats (maximum [max number] per order).

This is the only Custom Message that cannot be edited with Wikitext. Any text added will be plain text. Any styling from your CSS will be applied as usual.

The custom message for the Basket/Cart will appear on the Basket/Cart iframe (Basket2.aspx).

Enter your custom message into the box marked Custom message for basket.aspx. To add any formatting, you'll need to use Wikitext.

When a Customer reaches the Basket/Cart iframe (Basket2.aspx) and they are not logged in, you can add a custom message to remind them that they might need to log in. This can be useful if you use Offers that are powered by Memberships, as an Offer will not apply until a Customer is logged in.

Enter your custom message into the box marked Custom “login for discount” message to display on basket.aspx. To add any formatting, you'll need to use Wikitext.

REMINDER: This custom message will only appear when a customer is not logged in.

Confirmation

When a sale is completed in Classic Checkout, the Customer will reach the confirmation iframe

By default, the iframe will show the message: Thank you for your order! We have sent a confirmation email to [email address].

You might want to add a custom message to this page to add some extra information that is specific to your organisation. For example, you could include a message with your Box Office phone number or email address.

This message will also appear on the Customer’s confirmation email. We don’t recommend using Wikitext on this message as it won’t apply in the plain text confirmation email.

Enter your custom message into the box marked Custom message for confirmation.aspx

REMINDER: This custom message only works if you are using Classic Checkout.

By default, all systems are pre-populated with the message: An error has occurred. No more details are available for this error.

You may wish to customise this message to provide more information, such as your Box Office contact number or email address.
